DANRHO

Since 1997, the brand DANRHO has belonged to the KWON KG and specializes in clothing and equipment in the traditional combats sport Judo. DANRHO was founded by none other than Alfred Rhode, the founding father of Judo sports in Germany. Today's DANRHO enjoys a solid customer base of judoka who value in particular, the experience and the care, incorporated into the products of the label.

Alfred Rhode, born in the year 1896, and of the 8th Dan, founded the German Judo circle (Deutscher Judoring) in 1932, which is regarded as a forerunner of the present-day German Judo Federation (DJB). In addition, he was a co-founder of the European Judo Union and served as the founder and first President of the German Dan Council (DDK). As an organizer of competitions and Judo coach, Alfred Rhode gained a reputation as "the Pope of Judo" in Germany. Until shortly before his death in 1978, he had been teaching Judo and was a competent and adorable contact person for all questions about this sport.

But Rhode did not only make a name for himself as a founder of and an official in Judo, he also  founded several companies engaging in the development and manufacturing of judo-equipment and appropriate clothing - including the brand DANRHO. The brand name is a combination of the rank name "Dan" and the first three letters of the founder’s last name.

Until a few years after the death of Alfred Rhodes, the brand DANRHO was managed under the parent company Sports Rhode. However, after this company ran into economic difficulties and subsequently had to file for bankruptcy, KWON took over several former Rhode brands in the year 1997, among them the label DANRHO. We are very proud to be able to continue this tradition and to be able to keep one of the most famous brands in particular in the Judo sector in Germany from falling into oblivion.

DANRHO, back then as it is today, stands for high-quality products, especially in the field of Judo sports. Since the acquisition of the brand, we have continuously expanded our line; meanwhile, articles and equipment for Karate and other combat sports are available as well. Training uniforms, combat uniforms and accessories

Training as well as combat uniforms are exposed to specific stress in Judo sports.
